You'll need an OBD1 GM DIS module to control spark. Don't worry about the MAF, since MS will be using its own MAP sensor (unless you just really want to use MAF). I don't know about the IAC, but all the other stock sensors should work.

Most people setting up Ions for MS add a return to the fuel rail.

this may sound stupid but i got a v.3 ms and is the map sensor a external part or is it built in? would i have to order it seperately? or is it just wired in.....

MAP sensor is built in. You'll notice that you need to connect a vacum line from the MAP sensor on the megasquirt V3.0 to the intake manifold vacum connector. It sounds like you got a pre-assembled MS. Did you get any kind of wiring harness for your car? I imagine ecotec wiring harnesses are pretty universal (across basically all GM 4 cylinder made past 02!). Just find someone who megasquirted an ecotec and that'll be a good starting platform. turbos would be a waste of time with your car, they make superchargers for ecotecs in both cobalts and ions so just get that!

Turbochargers are not a waste of time with any car!
