Air shrouded injectors and MAP sensors.

I contemplating building myself a motor for my next project, a simple 8v VW crossflow. I'd like to use the stock air-shrouded injectors, but am unsure if I could do so with the MS on-board MAP sensor. In the stock application, they pull air from after the MAF, so it is metered air, but I am not sure how it would function in a MAP-based setup. Any thoughts? It would be an NA build, so boost would not be a factor.

The VW crossflow doesn't use air shrouded injectors, that's a CIS, CIS-e thing, they were used in earlier VW engines, the crossflow uses pretty ordinary Bosch efi injectors.

Actually, the MkIV AEG 2.slo uses air shrouded injectors, I have the head/fuel rail/injectors right in front of me. 8)

Hmm, good to know. I'd really like to take advantage of the air shrouding, and stick with the MAP based fueling. No MAFs for me, never been a big fan. I suppose I could mount the IAT near the airbox and run the line to the shrouds after that.

How could the air shrouding NOT affect fueling, especially since the MAP sensor would be downstream of the TB, and the line to the injectors would be pre-TB? I'm not complaining if it doesn't, just curious to find out why :D.

That's interesting! I'd based my answer on my experiences with the Mk3 ABA system, I would have thought the AEG would be similar.

I thought the same thing until I traded a case of beer for an AEG head, color me surprised when I took a good look at the injectors  .
