Ignition switch wiring question

I know I need an uninterrupted 12v when in run and crank.
My ignition switch has no such position. It is wired so that in run there is power on a (white) wire that feeds the ignition. In crank the white is powered from the switch through a relay that holds the 12v from the crank position to the white wire during cranking, then relaxes back to the 'normal' run mode.
Will the relay function interrupt power to MS while it switches from crank to run? If so, what is the work-around? The only thing I can t5hink is that the time for the relay to de-energize allows for the white to 'see' 12v at the normal position by the time it gets there.
Any thoughts?
Thanks, Jim
