Thinking of going aftermarket 60-2 with a Hall or VR sensor?

I found a fellow selling 60-2 kits for other management setups, which is awesome for me, since my engine is V-belt pulleys and the only other solution is a damper mounted piece mounted around rubber (garbage.)

I have a couple of questions! This fellow sells HALL and VR style setups, which would be ideal for my MS2 setup ? currently i'm running a 4 window hall into the optical circuit on my v3 board.... i've had significant problems with noise etc.. so i think going to a higher resolution trigger would help.

Should i opt for a VR style setup or optical... ? I assume in both situations I'll end up using the VR input circuit correct? I cannot recall if the hall circuit can have missing teeth for TDC verification?

I'm sure I can get both styles. I'd kind of prefer to have an oem style unit (vr) so i can replace it if it's damaged....

Any feedback would be awesome!

not so much difference between the two... the hall sensore requires a 5v supply to work, but works regardless of speed, and either gives a 5v or 0v signal....

the vr signal needs enough pulses per second to produce a strong enough signal, and the signal will be more rms shaped vs square for the hall.

the vr sensor doesn't need a voltage supply, and works with a simple wheel

Thanks! Thankfully I'm fully aware, using a hall sensor now...

but.. the thing is this vr sensor apparently has 3 terminals, maybe one is a shielded wire ground? :O :(

Stupid Bosch, I hate them.

Any clues on what the 3 terminals are for?

here is the pinout assignment, it appears that it's a shield drain wire..cool...

What is you engine configuration? I have a 2.0L ABA block with a 16v head. I'm trying to start my car for the first time and I'm not getting a Tach signal. Is the OEM crank sensor a Hall or a VR? and how is it wired? I've been stumped for about two weeks now and would appreciate the help.
