MegaSquirt Vendor Feedback

Note that is it not against the rules or the spirit of this forum to share experiences about sellers (good or bad). In fact, we encourage it. As long as your post is an honest opinion based on an actual experience, it is fine here - and we encourage full details - seller name, address, email, phone, etc. - whatever you have.
If you have a complaint or kudos to share, please post them in this forum.
This is how users can protect themselves by acting together to weed out bad sellers as quickly as possible.
And users should remember that any seller not on the official list (
http://www.megamanual.com/v22manual/mintro.htm#group) is not an approved seller. The approved sellers are known to have good track records in supplying and supporting customers. Some sellers not on that list are okay as well, but some are not. We encourage all 'non-listed' sellers to post here so that we can monitor their feedback and promote them to the listing if appropriate.
So before buying any MegaSquirt items, you should check the distributors listing and search this sub-forum for feedback. You should assume no feedback is a bad sign.

For those in the VW/Audi crowd. There are multiple threads on other forums about the man known as Patatron and his 'services'.
I personally run one of his boards, but when i received it, it didn't function properly. After a friend talked with the folks at DIY, between them, it now functions as it should.
There are many people still that have ordered an ECU and parts from Patatron.com, that have YET to recieve anything from him. Some have been waiting months, some closer to a year.
Buyers beware. I'd stay away from conducting any kind of business through Patatron.com.
All experiences I've had with DIY have been nothing but great! They were very helpful even with trying to get my Pat board working as it should. I'll be conducting all my MS related business with them.

I would be very careful about dealing with ANY company that only uses a Hotmail address for contact info, definitely not normal.

Also I'd be leary about doing business with anny company stating that Corky Bell's "Maximum Boost" is THE tuning bible.

Ha ha, I'd sure have to agree with you there.

In the past 12 months I have placed 3 orders with DIYAutoTune.com and have been very happy with the service. I live in Australia but that hasn't stopped them providing excellent service and fast delivery (around 5 days). I have only ever contacted them via email or using there online ordering system. But have always got same day responses taking into account the time difference.
Cheers
Daniel

I placed an order with DIYAutoTune about a month ago for a JimStim Kit. It arrived promptly. After sitting for a week I started assembling it and found one resistor missing. There was a bag for the resistor but no resistor in it. I e-mailed DIYAutoTune requesting a replacement and received one in the mail two days later no questions asked no problems.
Great service!

I have had great service from both DIY-Autotune and Glens Garage.

Read that book years ago, have to look into it again now that i am more learned ( thanks to MS )
My 2cents; the MegaManual is THE tuning bible!!! I've read several EFI books, on hondas fords and chevys, as well as the old school stuff from smokey, corky and jenkins. MegaManual is by far the best, it should be published!

I have dealt with Glen's Garage, DIY Autotune, and RS-Autosport. Glen's Garage and DIY got me my merchandise quickly with no missing parts and no difficulties. RS-Autosport repaired my broken v2.2 and cleaned it; it has worked without a flaw since.
I would recommend any of them.

I tried to order a MS-II v3.00 (fully assembled) from Glenn's Garage on Jan. 17th, but after repeated assurances the unit was going to ship "today" it still hasn't arrived nor do I have any tracking information. Glenn was very polite and apologetic over the phone, but it's been difficult to get in touch with him and annoying that I can't get an accurate update as to the status of my order. He did respond quickly to remove less than perfect feedback from his site (as is his right, I suppose) when I posted much the same message as I did here though. He sounded very knowledgeable about the product over the phone so I'm disappointed that this has turned into a poor customer experience for me.
I ended up ordering an MS-II from DIYAutoTune today, it's supposed to arrive by the end of the week so we'll see which one gets here first. I wouldn't normally mind waiting but I need to get the car put back together and the last thing I'm waiting on is the ECU. It sounds like he just got swamped with orders and couldn't keep up, but I would still have appreciated an honest status update.

I just wanted to post up a note in support of Matt at DIYTune. The original transaction was great, but the after the sale support has been nothing short of stellar.
As a complete noob, I've been very patiently brought along by Matt. When I've asked a dumb question, an answer has been just a short wait away. He's gotten me up and
running. And when I blew up the controller he repaired it under warranty.
If anyone is looking to get into the whole Megasquirt program, you could do yourself a favor and go with DIYTune.

I have bought "5.0 Mustang DIYer Kit Package #2" on 23 November, 2010 from DIYAutoTune.com
And the parcel hasn't been sent till now.
I have contacted with Matt Cramer and Nanette Hoffmann, but last answer was:
"Wednesday, December 1, 2010 11:03 AM: Andrey - Please understand when I have to take a package to the post office it takes a lot of time. We only do this once every couple of weeks. I apologize for the delay and will try to get up there in the next day or two. I will email you when the package has been mailed and is on the way and will give you tracking information. This is the best I can do. I hope you understand.
Thanks!
Nanette Hoffmann
Office Manager
DIYAutoTune.com"
I lost 2 week of my project.
I bought many parts on ebay, rockauto, etc with USPS Express shipping, but there was no case of a delay shipping for 2 weeks!
What should I do now?
Thanks

Your order shipped Friday; perhaps the shipping department's email did not reach you? Sorry about the delay, but unfortunately orders to Kazakhstan can only be paid for in person at the post office with USPS shipping, which is what we use. I'm not sure why they require this, but we're not allowed to use an online postage printing system and drop them in the mail like a normal package.

I ordered my MS3 stuff from DIY— brilliant pre-sales support and same day dispatch— fantastic.
Just have to wait for my friend in NY to bring it back to the UK for me now

Brand new to everything EFI. I started off buying Matt Cramer and Jerry Hoffmans book through Amazon. Great for a newbie. Also bought Frank 'Choco' Mundays book from Amazon. Again explained exactly what a newbie needed. Then I bought a MS11 v3, stim and relay board all unassembled from DIY Auto Tune. These guys are fantastic, fast shipping everything is REALLY well labelled and packaged. When I opened the box with all the ackets of caps, resistors etc... I thought what the heck - I will never get this right. So far I have. Email responses have been awesome too. Duncan
