Need suggestions for GM DIS set-up

As it stands, the are that currently houses my ignition trigger on my bike offers 11cm (4 1/3") of space from the center of the crank to the outermost area. Will it be possible to get reluctor wheel and sensor inside this small space? Most of the VR sensors I have seen look pretty long and I imagine there is a minimum to how small the reluctor wheel can be. Does anyone know of a short vr sensor?

The stock ones on my 82 SECA 750 aren't that big.
My "wheel" is about 3 1/8" in diameter.
There's also a success story for an 81 XJ1100 that Stan Hutchinson did where he simply mounted the VR sensor through the housing (

Electromotive has a 2.5" 60 tooth crank wheel.

Yeah, Stan did a great job. However, I would like to stay inside the housing if at all possible. Are those sensors on your seca a vr type sensor that I could use with my gm dis setup?

That depends, I think, on how you're driving the coils. I'm using DIS coils from a Saturn SC on mine, but I'm driving them directly from Microsquirt (not using the DIS base). I think you could drive a DIS base from one of these VR pickups as well, but I'm not sure. The main difference, I think, would be the wheel design.

I was planning on using the base. I too have Saturn coils. I think that you are correct, though, that the difference is in the wheel. It seems like the difference between having teeth and having gaps.

If you use the ICM form an ODB2 saturn, all it does is provide power and ground to the coils. It would be relatively easy to just use the ODB2 ICM base and wire into the connector to do what you are currently doing.
