Fuel pressure regulator, vacuum reference or not??

I see that most fuel pressure regulators are vac/boost referenced, but some are not. I know that you can get more range out of the injectors if you vary the pressure, but if i plan to have a drag race (bracket race) specific application where consistency is important, will this just be adding a variable to the equation that can cause me to chase tuning parameters and decrease my consistency ??

By referencing the regulator to manifold pressure, it is better at maintaining a constant pressure drop across the injectors. While you could run it without referencing it to manifold vacuum, I don't see any benefit when it comes to consistency.

Hmmmmm......... how does it do a better job at maintaining a constant pressure drop when vac referenced as opposed to not vac referenced?? :?

As manifold pressure changes, fuel pressure will change in a 1:1 ratio with it, keeping the relative pressures consistent.
