GM IAT as CLT for aircooled VW?

Anyone do this? MSII ver. 357 with relay board. My Cylinder head temp sensor would not move fast enough and I could not get it to register in the proper range so I figured I would use a GM IAT sensor mounted in the hot airflow from the cylinder head. Unfortunately, it registers wrong (hoping I can adjust the resistance range for that) but more troublesome is that the reading fluctuates very quickly almost 100 degress F. sending it into and out of WUE. Is this because of the the mating of this type of sensor with the MS circuitry or, is there something wrong with sensor/settings? The cht I replaced used the same shielded wiring and was steady in its readings. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Paul

I'm using a GM CLT sensor in the airflow from #2.

Steamer,
GM CLT NOT a GM IAT? Works well? Any reprogramming of the resistance ranges?
Thanks,
Paul

CB performance sells a gm style CHT sensor that they had custom made to screw in to a late model air cooled VW head. If you use it you don't have to change any bias resistors, and it is fast to react.

here is a link:
http://www.cbperformance.com/catalog.asp?ProductID=333 check out part number 7132.

They are ready to help, and the resistance for this is 185 Ohms at 210F, 3400 at 70F, and 100,700 at -40.

It's a stock GM CLT sensor. I don't think it required any changes to MegaTune, but it's been a few years and I don't remember exactly. I mounted it to the tins under #2 in the airflow. Seems to work fine.
