Map Sensor Shenanigans

Hey guys,

I figure you would be the best people to ask... I just finished a MSII V3 mainboard. Worked flawlessly all except the map sensor. I was using a Map Daddy 4 bar map sensor and one the chips was damaged. any time the board was moved the readings work hop skip and jump all over the place. So I bought a replacement, desoldered the old on and resoldered the new one in. Plugged it in and turned it on. Nothing. the leds blink and thats it. I changed literally nothing else!! I used a voltmeter to check the Map sensor connection and they were all 0v. its not getting power... So, my question is... can the map sensor not working correctly effect the RPM, TPS, and O2 readings? The Coolant temp and MAT readings work fine... crazy business huh? I'd love to hear some suggestions... also, is there a way I can test the capacitors to see if they are working correctly without desoldering anything? Or the resistors? I don't mind taking the time to check things, I just don't have a clue how.

Thanks ahead of time for the help!!!

~Ben

It shouldn't affect the RPM or TPS readings. Check the voltage from the Stimulator to the processor port on the TPS and see what is happening there.

What voltage would I be looking for?

Also, here may be another reason i have a problem. I shorted d1 to D2 on accident.... the jumper came unsoldered somehow and jumped to the other one. what would that fry? sad day...

Check the voltage on the ADC port corresponding to the TPS input. See if it has the same range of travel with and without the MapDaddy present.

Probably nothing.
