Idle air control question

Post by jmfnx »

On my 98 mark viii motor I have been having trouble wiring the IAC control as I am unsure if it is stepper or PWM. The typical stepper motor usually have 4 wires and mine only has 2 electrodes and the PWM has 3 I believe. This could be a problem as I need to use fast idle or an aux output to open additional runners above 3000 rpms. If I use PWM style I eliminate the fast idle output. Any help with this would be great I have done homework I just hit information overload on IAC and idle options. Thanks in advance.

Except for some early TBI systems, all Ford IACs I've seen have been 2 wire PWM types.
