COP on 3 cyl?

would it be possible to run coil on plug on a 3 cyl with a 36-1 trigger wheel on the cam instead of the crank, triggering an EDIS6 with single tower coils as wasted spark? the timing maps would have to be retarded 50%

Thanks,

Dustin

Should work other than the skewed timing maps.

I would imagine it would be possible to run it as normal off the crank 36-1 sensor. Instead of firing 3 pairs of plugs, you could just fire 3 single plugs. Use COPs unless you have a 3-coil coilpack, and attach the EDIS 6 to cylinders 1, 2 and 3 just as you would the three pairs of cylinders on a 6 cylinder engine.

What you'd end up with would be a "wasted spark" setup on each cylinder, with an ignition event around TDC on the exhaust stroke.

what does the crankshaft look like?
in other words, are the rods every 120 degrees, or a pair together, and one 180 off?
