Im getting a 31 degree (base included) advance on start up (log shows 31 degrees ar 75 RPM). Ive looked but cant seem to find any settings that would control it. All help is appreciated.

I think i have the answer to my question-let me know if im wrong (wont be the first time)! I currently have my trigger offset at 31 degrees. Because MS uses this during the crank cycle or when comm is lost, this is why im getting a 31 degree "spike". To correct this problem i need to rerun trigger wizzard and reset the distributor to a more practical offset number say around 8 degrees! This MS system and all the work everyone has done on this is awsome! Thanks to all!

You are correct. There is an ignition setting called trigger rise such that, if this option is selected rather than 'Calculated', then when you are below cranking rpm, the ecu fires spark immediately whenever it gets a tach signal. Trigger offset tells the ecu where TDC is relative to the tach signal, so while you are cranking the ignition advance gauge shows trigger offset rather than the table advance. As soon as cranking is done, it switches to using and displaying the table advance.

But don't just change trigger offset, because it will also affect your post-cranking advance even though it will appear to be the same on the gauge. What you need to do is measure the timing with a light during stable idle and adjust the trigger offset until the timing light value matches the advance gauge.
