MSII 3.57 board 2.89 firm issue

I have loaded the s19 firmware version 2.89 before the end of the load this error appears.
ERROR: Could not read status code, 0x3E 0x00
Elapsed time: 9.39 seconds
What am I missing. IS this normal or a true error.
Any help would be wonderful.

It looks like a true error, but it would help if you could post the full text of the message from the download program.

Doesn't look like it got all the way. Are you using a 9 volt battery? If so, make sure the voltage isn't too low; loading code is murder on 9 volt batteries.

I am using car battery key for a voltage source.
New DB9 cable and a fully chargered battery. Still same issues
When interfacing with Megatune and Tunerstudio, the connect is sporatic connected not connected.

Are you using a direct serial connection or USB adapter?

I am using direct serial port. I ditched the laptoop and rolled the car next to a desktop, and damnit if it did not load.
Thanks now on to my next challenge.
