Hey guys.. Just another question here…

I just picked up me MSII setup, and I am wondering if I need the controller that goes along with the Innovate LC-1 Wideband, or is the Megasquirt board enough?

Nevermind.. After doing a bit more reading, it appears as though I do need some soft of controller for it.

Now that I read the link and your post I am still confused. Why do we need to the LM1/LC1 at all with the MSII? Can't we take the sensor output signal wire from the O2 and put it to the O2 input on the board? We need a separate power and ground ciruit for the heater with a relay etc. The sensor wire seems like it can go back to the MS and then calibrate it with the tuning software.

Of course I am so new I could be talking out my butt. I do have an LM1 on my car for my attempts to make the carb work!

Thanks for the link on the WB operation. The controller is driving the voltage and monitors how much this takes and that is not going to be managed by MS.

How should I wire up my Innovate LM-1 or LM-2?
For the most part you'll follow the 'Quick Start Guide' that comes with the LM-1 / LM-2 to the letter. If you lost that or need a copy of it for some reason you can download it here: LM-1 Quick Start Guide
Here is what we'd like to add:

•If you are simply using the LCD display on the LM-1 / LM-2 to tune your car you have nothing different to do. However, if you are routing an analog output from the LM-1 / LM-2 into the MegaSquirt you should ground the LM-1 / LM-2 and the MegaSquirt at the same point. This is to prevent a voltage differential and will ensure accurate readings. I've been know to clip the cig lighter connector wire that comes with the LM-1 / LM-2 and put quick disconnects on it, and install the same type of quick disconnect connectors on the MS Harness so I can pull power and ground from the same source it pulls from, ensuring the MegaSquirt gets an accurate sensor reading.

This does not actually tell me how to get the signal from the LM-1 to MS. Do I leave the hand help unit in the car wired up all the time? I know it works because I have used it to tune.

You would wire either Analog Out 1 or Analog Out 2 to the MegaSquirt's O2 sensor pin. If you are using the wideband for EGO control, the LM-1 would have to be in the car full time.

Thanks that is super helpful! What are most guys doing - using the wide band to get tuned then switching to the narrow band for normal running? I like your quick disconnect idea - plug it in when needed but pull out when not. Then the narrow band can get the job done - I think.

Not sure if you got the all the answers you need, but I have an LC-1 on my Suzuki DR350s motorcycle. Narrow band O2 sensors are much cheaper, so they are good for OEMs. This is the first EFI conversion for me, so I like the extra information from a wideband sensor. I don't see any reason to replace it with a narrowband sensor, I don't plan to do that.

Then the narrow band can get the job done - I think.

no.. it only tells you when its TOO lean or TOO rich.

Use a wideband for proper tuning. some guys drive them for closed-loop.

I use a wideband for tuning only. then no ego control at al. but I don't have emmission rules on my car in my country
