EEC-IV to MegaSquirt Adaptor board

Hi Folks,
I'm Paul and I'm from Middleton, near Manchester in the UK. I am fresh legs to MSefi, although I have built MJLT and have installed it into my 1,8 Pinto'd Sierra and works superb, although not driven on the road.
My aim in one of my projects,is to supercharge my 2 litre 8v DOHC Sierra, but will be using a 2,3 block.
Anyway,I was intrigued in the Adaptor board, but tring to establish how it is connected

As we can see,it is clearly plugged into the MS unit, but can't see where it is plugged into the EEC-IV. I summise that it is plugged into the only socket available on the EEC-IV which is for the OE loom.
I'd be grateful if someone can clear that up for me,thanks

It replaces the internals of the EEC-IV ECU. What you see there is a gutted EEC-IV shell, with the adapter board inside it. It then plugs into the stock wiring where the EEC-IV used to be, completely replacing it.

Is there a drawback of just obtaining just the EEC-IV connector and place each wire onto each appropiate pin?

Back when the MicroSquirt was in development, I built a patch harness by soldering an EEC-IV connector to a MicroSquirt harness. It's a bit of a pain as the connector wasn't meant to be attached to wiring directly, but it can be done.

Back before I designed the adapter board, I removed a connector from an EEC-IV and wired it up directly. I had to pot the connector with epoxy to prevent the pins from falling out and/or bending and breaking, it is certainly do-able, but not very reliable.

You would have to install the Spout pullup and the high current idle valve driver inside the Megasquirt case...I.E. wired as per the instructions for the firmware you are using.
