"piggybacking" std ECU for datalogging

On my first MS install a few years ago I converted a carb'd engine, and while it was still running on the carb I had the MS hooked up to all the sensors and was able to datalog and check that I wasn't getting resets. It also ended up logging the ignition curve of the stock dizzy, though I never used that to set up ignition on my MS install.
Now I have a EFI vehicle and want to do the same sort of thing. If I just go and connect the MS to the stock sensors with the original ECU still in place, are they going to share them OK? I thought that as long as my grounds were good and there was no difference in potential between the two ECUs it should work fine.
thanks!
