Hey there,
just a quick ques, when MS'ing an already efi engine, can you use an MS relay board and eliminate the stock relays ?

Sure...... for the most part, unless you have some esoteric relays that need to be maintained.

I would recommend the relay board under any circumstances! I will take care of you fuel pump, fast idle relay etc. and makes connecting injectors, sensors, ignition control, et. al. MUCH easier! And, it also provides all the necessary fusing, all located in one convenient package.

WELL worth the $$$ IMHO.

Some relays you may need to keep would include things like fan relays, defrost relay, and non-engine-related relays.

My apologies to zazza for my rather terse reply and thanks to Matt for his excellent explanation. It's just been one of those weeks. I'm getting less sleep than Matt, I think.

IMHO, it depends on the original harness. I found it easier to modify that for the MS than use the relay board - mine already had main and fuel pump relays. Also ends up with less connections so fewer sources of potential problems. However, I do have a breakout board which goes between MS and loom for fault finding.

Thanks for making that point Dave. I get a little carried away when I go on my rant about things like relay boards, stims etc.

All of my projects for the last 4 years have been on formerly carbureted cars that have no existing harnesses etc.

IMHO, some who can do the most incredible mechanical work have a mental block when it comes to wiring, and think anything will do. Yet electrical problems are perhaps the most common these days. So whatever produces the best and neatest job is the way to go.
Personally I enjoy making up wiring looms - but then I have all the correct crimp tools etc. But I know some hate it.
