MS2 all LEDs blink one time on power on but no function

MS2 V3.0 board and EDIS. 2.88 code.

I was testing my setup (key cycling to build fuel pressure) when the MS stopped powering up. I noticed that the fuel pump stopped running during initial key on and when I went to check the megatune screen, there was no indication that the ms was alive anymore. I disconnected the vehicle harness and connected the stim. When I hook a 9v battery to the stim, the FP and Fidle led's on the stim blink once along with the 3 leds on the MS then go out. Megatune screen doesn't indicate any activity. I'm concerned that I cooked the MS2 chip, I found out that there is a relay coil circuit on the same circuit that powers the MS that I did not install a clamping diode on, so when I turn the key off, I may have induced some high voltage back into the power circuit on the MS. I did pull the chip and check the 5V regulator, the regulator checks out good (5V output), the ground checks out good (less than .1 ohms to the case) and stim battery voltage on the input. I do have 5v at the processor pins listed in the troubleshooting guide. I've had the whole system mocked up on the bench and it worked fine (driving coils etc.) for a few hours for burn in prior to installing in the car. I am also going to clean the board again with acetone just in case I have a flux residue problem tonight.

Thanks,
Eric

Try reloading the firmware and see what results you get.

Thanks, I'll try that. Worst case scenario, if i Need to order a new daughtercard tomorrow, would it be possible to mAke it to ca by the weekend?

I reloaded the firmware (2.891), and was able to see the MS in megatune, the pump led was blinking and the RPM gauge alternated 0 and 8000 RPM. Once I set the controller to MS-II that stopped like it should. I can change settings/tables in MT and burn them to the MS but the stim never does anything other than light the pump led. I went through the review mode in MT looking for anything weird and restarting the MS, the pump led on the stim still stays on solid no matter what and none of the pots have any affect on the gauges on the MT screen. For example, if I go to calibrate the TPS, the low and high readings will be the same no matter where the pot on the stim is set to.

I'm not sure what to do next.

I tried checking the clock per the instructions and the clock isn't counting and the voltage gauge in MT doesn't show any voltage. Also I noticed that I get some errors when trying to update the s19 file for the bootloader. I do not get a verfication that the bootload completes. I would want to verify that something isn't messed up in the voltage supply circuit but I am not sure if the CPU drives the timer or vice versa.

It won't load firmware at all or communicate with a dead clock circuit. I would follow the voltages from the Stim input back to the processor and see if they change when you turn the pots at this point.

I checked for varying voltages at the cpu socket:
TPS varies from 0-5 volts at pin 26 AD 3-1 turning the TPS pot
IAT varies from 0-4 volts at pin 24 AD 1-1 turning the IAT pot
CLT varies from 0-4 volts at pin 25 AD 2-1 turning the CLT pot
O2 varies from 0-1 volts at pin 28 AD 5-1 turning the O2 pot

should I check the clock circuit next?

I ended up buying a MS3 V3.57 smd setup and got the car running with it. No changes to the wiring - maybe I static discharged something on the board. I'll work on sorting it out later. After 5 years it's good to finally have something to tune on!

If you can load firmware, the clock circuit is not broken. Period.
