Runing a carb and Runing HEI8 distributor

Post by mkube396 »

ok i am Vary new to all this MegaSquirt stuff but I would like to EFI my 396 BBC some day but for now my 3310 Holley is doing fine. So this is what I want to do keep the carb and run the MegaSquirt II to control my Ignition Timing. From what I have seen this can be done.
And is it the same wiring for the older Large coil in cap HEI and the small cam HEI it looks to me it is.

will i need a TPS? or will it just run off the MAP and RPMS?

mkube396,

You can run off MAP and rpm, there are no TPS related affects on timing. There are some optional intake air temp and coolant temperature factors, so you might (or might not) want those sensors.

The wiring is similar for the 7-pin (large coil-in-cap) and 8-pin (small cap) HEIs: http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/GM_7pinHEI.htm
