MSII on HSR 383: still diesels after shut off

Got a couple of concerns about my build. Keep in mind that this build has been going on for over 2 years now, and I have forgotten some of the info over the years. Just trying to get back on her now and get her to run smooth
I adjusted the TPI throttle body to raise the idle up. It was trying to idle at 300-400rpms, I bumped it up to about 750 for right now (also recalibrated the TPS). I set the base timing to appx. 8* BTDC. I went to shut off the motor, and it kept running. You could tell a difference in the sound, kind of like when you take an automatic car out of gear and put it into park, seems like it idled up a bit and smoothed out then finally shut off. With it being only 8* BTDC, and it being fuel injected, seems kind of weird that it would do that. I fear that it may be a leak injector, but I doubt one leaky injector would cause it to idle somewhat smooth after the ignition is killed. one injector maybe would cause some erratic behavior, but it seems like it ran smoother after the ignition was shut off.
Secondly, I set the base timing with B disconnected. I hooked it back up to set the trigger offset. I made my timing table flat at 10* BTDC so it would make it easier. So with a flat timing table, and base set at 8* it should have been straight forward. Nope, I hooked the gun up and the mark on the balancer is all over the place between 10*-20*. With everything the way it is, I figured it would have been smooth enough to get a clear reading even though the motor isn't up to operating temperature.
I might end up replacing the plug wires. I had noticed that 2 of the boots on the dizzy were close and arcing between the two, but I moved them away from each other for the time being. I just replaced the 8-pin HEI module as well as the Baster II coil and cleaned the plugs. The wires could be a potential culprit, but I want to narrow all other options down before I go that route. Any input, as always, is greatly appreciated
