o2 Sensor delay.

My WB o2 sensor is quite a long way from the engine. It's situated where the left and right banks comer together at the back of the gearbox. It works well - the heater never comes on after starting.
But being this far down the exhaust means it will react rather later than most and of course you can dial in this delay. But the instructions on how to calculate this are gobbledegook to me. Is there an confused person's guide or tables anywhere?
