I think I read here that Ford Mustang COP will work with EDIS if the coils are wired in series.
I don't think you could use two EDIS 4 units on an 8 cylinder. Although you might get them to fire correctly stand alone by using two sensors, the signal MS sends to control the timing is different between 4 and 8 cylinder units, as it relates to the tach signal from them. I think. ;-)

Philip Lochner has solved the issue with two EDIS 6 on a V12. Requires an interface unit to phase the SAW signal to the second EDIS module
Find Philip and ask him, I even think he has an adapter kit for sale.
But for a V8, there is really no need . Use an original EDIS 8 and run it as per manual- the best wasted spark system that money can buy!

Wouldn't those actually need to be in
parallel Dave? The EDIS8 controller has 4 outputs (A,B,C &D) and should be able to drive 4
sets of coils in parallel?

Dunno. Here's the complete post from Matt:-

It's proven to work with Ford Mustang COP coils if you wire them in series. Other coils are something of an unknown.

My guess is wiring each pair in series is a better match to the coil driver in EDIS. It may not be able to supply enough current if they're in parallel.

Must be going into brain fade here........
Series certainly makes sense to me also! As long as you are able to fire 2 coils at a time EDIS should work. Matt would certainly be the one to defer to in this case.
Sorry for jumping in so quickly Dave.

Not a problem. It's best to make sure such things ain't just a brain fart on my part. ;-)
