my problem is that I do not get pulses from the trigger wheel while cranking with the starter.

Car: Landrover 2.25 liter (136 cui) 4 cylinder

Megasquirt II V3.0 board
Firmware V 2.891
Trigger wheel 36-1 VR sensor

While running the engine with normal distributor ignition I get trigger pulses.
MS send also spark pulses out (tested with separate coil).
From this side everything works.

Problem starts below 350 rpm.

Cranking starter speed is 200-250 rpm.

Current setup is :

cranking trigger to calculated

Tach signal masking

Time mask to 0.2
Percentage Mask to 10%


How I see it the ECU gets pulses from the VR but can not interpret them while cranking, therefore the ignition output will not happen.

I measure pluses at pin 25 VR input but at IC 7 pin 1 I get just 1 pulse.


Any Idea? Suggestion?

Hopefully you set trigger wheel teeth correctly. Showing us your msq file might help.

thank you for the reply.

Found the problem VR sensor was too far away from the wheel.

A washer cured the problem, engine is starting and runs now.

Now the tuning starts
