How much resistance at coil pack terminals?

At present I'm getting spark to only two of eight cylinders. I'm thinking I might have a problem with my coil packs. I have four coils, each delivering spark to two cylinders (typical "wasted spark" setup). There are five wires coming out of the coil packs...one constantly hot (+) and four that I presume should ground each coil at the correct time thus causing the appropriate coil to discharge. But, when I hook an ohm meter across the terminals I get zero resistance between ANY TWO TERMINALS! It seems to me I should get INFINITE resistance between the terminals. Why does everything seem to be connected together? Bad coil pack or am I missing something?
Thanks,
Bob

Are you using a digital multimeter? There should be X ohms of resistance between the positive and and one ground. There should be 2 times X ohms of resistance between any two grounds. That is because the meter measures through two ignition coils.

And, depending on the coil, X could very well be less than 1 ohm. Make sure your meter can read that low.
