Mac OSX snow leopard no comms

For discussing Phil Tobin's TunerStudio MS is the MegaSquirt edition of TunerStudio, a next generation tuning application. It provides the ability to configure and tune all MegaSquirt controllers and is 100% compatible with MegaTune ini files and msq's.

Mac OSX snow leopard no comms

Post by h22 »

Not sure if this is a TS issue or aan issue with my ignorance of the mac os but :

I have installed the most recent vertion of TS on my new macbook pro, and TS runs fine. But I cant seem to get my microsquirt module to communicate.

I am using a USB/serial converter (its the unit that DIY autotune sells), that had worked fine on my old XP laptop, and it appears that the mac recognises the adapter, but TS does not see the MS module.

What I do is use the "Detect" feature in TS, but it does not see and MS devices.

If I try to set the port up manually the only ports that show up in the pull down menu are bluetooth.

I am very new to macs, so it may be something simple I am missing, but I don't know where in the mac archetecture to set these things up.

So,.... any of you out there using OSx snow leopard and have any advice?

Thanks.

Did you install it with the OS X pkg installer?

It sound like you are getting no complaints or error dialogs from TS, so odds are TS is installed fine and you are just missing the VCP driver for your usb to serial cable. If you are running the usb converter from DIY, install the VCP driver from:

That did it. I should have checked that, feel rather stupid now. But windows usually comes up with an error message about the drivers, this mac had no such message, and in the hardware utility it showed it as a serial converter, so i assumed the drivers were already there.

Thanks.
