MSefi.com read only forum (Jan.15,2018)

I just up graded my ms1 with the ms2 daughter card and now my fuel pump will not turn on. All the steps prior to putting into the car went great. install old chip (all proper steps) and fuel pump turns on like normal. i have a relay board don't know if that matters. every thing in my car has worked for 3 years until this upgrade so external wiring in great for MS1 but it seems that maybe a pin on the new chip doesn't match pcb2.2 db37 pin 37? maybe need to jump something? any help is appericated

It should just work. Is everything else working OK?

i followed the directions to a the t and double checked every like ten times also had a electronics guy i know look over the board and all my solder connections he was actually impressed. i have a stim and when plugged in with the daughter board and the PMP light comes on when its plugged in to the car the only thing i checked was the tps and it was registering on my lab top i didn't try to crank it over because on the obvious no fuel pump. whats the chances that i got a wired chip? by the way your book "Performance fuel injection system" was awsome great job!!

If the PMP light comes on, I'd check fuses and wiring instead of the ECU...

all of that is good because i can unplug mega squirt and ground pin 37 and everything turns on i can also put the old chip back in and the fuel pump turns on then also, so the problem is has got to be with the daughter board is the control ciruit for the fuel pump in the daughter board?

So i did some more testing today kinda to double check things one more time.

MS1 plugged into car: (old chip)

Fuel pump turns on like it should few seconds later shuts off like it should.

MS2 plugged into the car (daughter board w/ 2.2pcb)

Fuel pump does not turn on.

MS2 w/ stim 2.21 plugged in

pmp light turns on and stays on
everything else works proper and registers on lab top

MS1 plugged into stim

pmp light turns on after a second or so shuts off



so external wiring 100%
board with old chip 100%
board with daughter card somethings got to be wrong???

Check to see if it is sending a 5 volt signal to pin 33 of the CPU socket. This is what activates the relay.

daughter card voltage at cpu socket pin 33 was .785 volts

ms1 chip cpu socket pin 33 4.96 volts

so the answer would be no it isn't sending the 5v signal

The easiest thing to check for is corrupted firmware. If you reload the firmware without loading an MSQ file, what does the fuel pump output do?

and same thing except now when Megatune is opened in the bottom of the screen it said "Not synced" in red. and when i go to communications, settings, test the connection it said "no response"

i decided to try and open tuner studio v0.999.1 and everything seems to work but the pmp light on the stim sill stays on

That's a LONG out of date firmware! Do you have one of the original ~100 green MS2 daughter cards? If not, I wouldn't bother with 1.34.

i have the green v2.2 pcb with the blue daughter card i was just following the directions in the mega manual.
so what firmware should i be using something like 2.8xx i guess because i have the green board i thought i needed to use firmware that was old.

No, you'd only need that for the green daughter card. I'd use the latest 2.892.

so i loaded the 2.892 code into the ecu, went to mtcfg and selected the megasquirt-II_2892.ini and go file activate and activate is not in bold so i cant click it

and so you know with the new code the pmp light came on, went off and is blinking

well i could not get the 2.892 to activate in the config so i loaded the latest version that i could activate and that was 2.687. magically everything seems to work so i'm going to try and fire the car up. i would still like to know how to get the latest and greatest version working.


i was looking at DIYAutoTune install artical on honda ignition and there was alot of stuff on building circuits so that the ms can read the vr signal but nothing was listed about the 2.2pcb with the daughter card using the honda ignition module. they use the 3.0 and 3.57 boards, any ideas?

hey man i'm way past that my daughter card came with the bootloader on both pins but i figured what was wrong i was loading way to old code but i ended up loading 2.687 because i could not figure out how to get the mscgf to let me active megasquirt_2892.ini i i went with the latest that i could activate. the fuel pump is now working correctly now the problem is if i need to mod my board to beable to read my vr sensor i have the 2.2pcb with the blue msII daughter card. My car is a honda i looked at diyauto tune and they have a listing for the 3.0 and 3.57 pcb but not the 2.2 with daughter card and original honda ignition module. or maybe my reading skills arn't up to par. i should probably re-post this problem else where but i guess its worth a shot. thanks for the response. any ideas on my second issue are greatly appreciated.


the fuel pump issue got solved with a big thanks to Matt Cramer!!!!
