Ford PWM wiring question

Post by impalakid68 »

I am using the relay board. I jumped from the center to V on the board and also jumped were the relay is mounted. I am running a wire from the board, FIDLE port, to the PWM valve (12 volts). Now the instructions say to put a diode across the PWM, banded end to 12 volt supply non banded to the lead that goes to MS. So this is were I am confused. My plan is to install the diode in series in the ground wire. But which way? I am thinking the banded end to the PWM the other grounded to the throttle body mount stud.

In advance, Thank You for the help.

That sounds good to me,please note some Ford Idle valves have an inbuild diode, check at the side of the connection for + and - markings, reversal can lead to sudden death (of the valve)...

The point of the diode is to create a loop to short out the flyback spike. Putting the diode in series would not do that.
