GM coolant sensor tip thickness?

I know it's a bit strange, but does anyone know how thick the walls of the brass sensor tip are that encase the thermistor itself? I was thinking about using a closed-element (a Wells SU109 to be exact) sensor for manifold temperature and cutting cooling fins into the probe end to improve response. I just don't know how deep I could make the fins without destroying the sensor and I don't have any junk spares to sacrifice "for science."

I know, "just buy an open-element sensor." I would, but this is going into a high-boost, high-temperature, high-vibration application that will see water/methanol injection and I want to put the sensor downstream of the nozzle.

The open element sensor will withstand the water meth and boost. Ive been using one in my setup with a small shot of NO2. I have a spare i think i could cut on and find out for ya but itll take me a day or so.
