map sensor seems to have died

Hello All,

been running ms for about 2 years and went out to start my car and it would turn over and then quickly die.... attached the laptop and looked at all of the sensor reads to fine that the map only read around 13 kPa.... strange I thought so I had my wife watch the map on the computer and found that even with me sucking on the vacuum line no change occured.... pulled out the megasquirt and tested on the stimulator and applied vacuum (again sucking ) still no change.

I guess i am looking to see what may need to be replaced.....is it just the map sensor or could it be anything else in the circuit and how would I check these other than by sucking the vacuum line?

ms2
ver 3.0

any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Check the output on pin 1 of the MAP sensor - what's it reading there?

Is there any chance you had the outlet pointed upward and it filled with oil?

You say check the output of pin 1.... I am assuming with a voltmeter?

and the other lead to ground .... sorry I am not the best with electronics but really appreciate the help. It probably fluctuates with vacuum?

The map sensor is out of the engine compartment and about 1' above the intake port..... so I doubt any oil but it could be possible i suppose.

Thanks

Right, use a volt meter, other lead to a ground like the GND in the proto area, key on, engine off.

Is this the standard 2.5 bar internal MAP sensor or an external one?

yes it is the standard on the low side of the ms board

I will check and get back to you.

out put on pin1 (says notch near it) is .1 volts on the stimulator.... changes only slightly when pressure or vac is applied. tried the other side as well just in case it is numbered from the other side and got 0

Yep, looks like a dead sensor.
