ok i bought a used ms2 v3.0 on my forums a while back and am just now getting to use it.

when i opened the case to verify how it was setup i cam across some wierd stuff.
supposedly this was also used on a camaro with hei distributor

my setup is a tpi injected engine with a small cap hei dizzy.

when i checked for the ignition mods this is what i found on the board

tsel to optoout
xg2 to xg1
c30 is removed
r12 = 470r

does not have 1k resitors from 5V+ to the led's

ign jumpered to js10
no connection to spr4

can anyone tell me what this unit is setup for
thanks

ok according to megamanual it is setup to use hei but the manual states this may not get a clean signal. so im quessing the way with the 1k resitors of the leds is the secondary way of doing the hei ignition.

so basically the ms unit should work as is ???

Looks like you have something pretty similar to this:

i tried to fire the car yesterday and i have no tach signal so im going to do these mods and try again
For the most part, stick with the standard assembly documentation at http://www.megasquirt.info/ms2/V3assemble.htm. I'll just be covering any departures from that doc here.
Step 22: You will want all of the IAC jumpers.
The input mods are to invert the input signal from the HEI module's tach signal. The HEI module will ground pin 24 to trigger a spark input.
Remove D1 and D2, if they are installed. Replace them with jumpers.
Remove the jumper between XG1 and XG2 and any jumper leading to TachSelect, if fitted.
Run a jumper wire from TachSelect to XG1.
Run a jumper wire from OptoIn to one of the two +5V holes in the Proto Area.
Remove C30.
Replace R12 with a 1.3k resistor. You may substitute a resistor from between 1 to 2 k.
Jumper OPTOOUT to TSEL.
Step 65: You will not be using the IGBT high current driver; you're using a logic level ignition output instead. Jumper JS10 to IGN to bring the signal out on pin 36.

i should actually take a picture of my board because it seems some stuff is missing but im not sure if it has anything to do with the ignition stuff

Looks like it's missing the VR conditioner and the passive flyback clamp circuit.

I'd install that circuit for anything. It clamps the maximum flyback voltage at 36 volts.
