Coil pack trigger voltage questions
I'm MSing (MSII v3.57) my '79 Volvo 244. I'll be using a '93 B230F +T with a Ford T5 trans behind it. Anyway, on to the question.
I purchased a MS box off of Ebay awhile back, and got a decent deal. It is has a surface-mount board, and was built by DIY for a guy who used it in a 420a DSM. Because of that, he had DIY build it so that it used a 12v output to the coils instead of a 5v output, and the box DOES NOT have internal ignitors. This means that the LS1 style coils that I had previously bought won't work...I need something triggered by 12v. Yeah, I could send the box back to DIY, but they're wanting $75/hr plus parts and shipping. It's cheaper for me to find something in the JY.
I know DSM cars of the right era use 12v triggered coil pack/ignitors, but they're almost always picked clean in the junkyards around here, and anywhere I can find selling them online wants somewhere in the neighborhood of $180-200 for what I need.
Can anybody point me towards a (easily available) 12v triggered coil pack I could use? Or is DSM stuff my best bet? I found a Hyundai coil pack from a mid 90s Elantra...like this one http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/searc ... ion%20Coil any chance I got lucky and found a 12v triggered coil? Seems like I remember somewhere that some Hyundais used 12v.
