EDIS4 base config assistance

The setup
77 MGB, 1800cc (stock) MS2 v2.891, controlling fuel and spark, twin TBI (30lbs/hr hi-z injectors), edis4
The issue
On the bench everything test fine with the stim. In the car I can't get it to start. Occasionally it will backfire.
I started with a base ms2 project in tunerstudio and modified to accomodate the particulars of my setup. I logged an attempted start up, both files are attached.
I see engine rpm in TunerStudio so I'm assuming I have a good tach signal from the EDIS module IDM output (pin 2). My injectors appear to fire as I've pulled the plugs and they appear wet.
I've spent countless hours pouring through the forums and I think I've managed to thoroughly confuse myself. I don't quite understand how to interept the log data and would appreicate a review of the attached files and any guidance to get me going in the right direction.

Ahhhhhhh............
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but, PIP is
pin 1 on EDIS4/8 modules isn't it?
When I was running EDIS8 I connected pin 1 (PIP) to ms and used pin 2 to drive my oem tach.

The RPM signal, 1 pulse per ignition event, is pin 1 on EDIS 4,6 and 8. In FORD-lingo it is called PIP.
This is the rpm signal to MS. Use the MSconfig as per the manual .
EDIS pin 2 can be used to drive a tacho. Pin 2, on some EDIS , has in adition also some modulation with eror codes. Never use pin 2 for rpm signal to MS
There are a few easy steps to verify that EDIS is OK.
Nr 1 is that plug/plug wire combo has a total resistance of over 5 kOhms. "R" marked plugs with copper core plug wire works great.
Make sure that you have a surge cap ( FORD has them, the junkyard is your best friend!) connected from coil + supply to ground
Set the VR sensor to the - 1 tooth as per manual.
Take out plugs and connect them up, with some kind of ground connection also, so that you can verify sparking.
Crank and you shall have very solid and visible / audible sparks from all plugs.
Put a straight ( NOT DIAL BACK!) strobe on the plug lead to plug 1. Disconnect wire from MS to EDIS pin 3 (SAW)
Crank and strobe, you will have an advance of betwen 0 and 10 degreees depending on cranking RPM.
Make sure that you have cranking rpm display on MS thru TS
No spark?? No RPM ?? Swop the VR leads. Does MS get power in both cranking and running mode?
Once this is verified , get back to the forum and let us know how it goes

Roger that.
This is part of a restoration project I'm doing on the car and as is often times the case, life gets in the way. I'm back to working on it again after about 6 months so I'm in the process of retracing all of my wiring and comparing it to the documentation to confirm that I didn't overlook anything. Should have all that sorted out by this weekend, will report back my findings.

Have you been through the initial start and idle procedure in the manual? Your target AFR looks very rich. Especially since your temperature appears to be around 90 degrees.

That's actually what I was trying to get through over the course of two weekends. Never could get the engine started, that's when I decided to ask for assistance. I'm re-reading the config and initial tuning sections of the manual as well as the physical verifications mentioned earlier.
Looking at the log I see AFR at 7.4 and it does not appear to fluctuate during cranking. Reviewing the definition of AFR, I agree that this is rich and most likely what caused the engine to flood. When I look at the config in TS and pull up the AFR table does not contain a value less than 12.2 in any cell at any RPM. Herein sets some of my confusion. Am I correct in that one of the parameters that controls AFR during cranking is the cranking pulse width? If so, then I haven't made the connection (in my head) as to where this is configured in either MT or TS. Is it WUE?
As for the temperature, 90 degrees is ambiant for my neck of the woods this time of year.

Just wanted to close the loop on this one. Long story short, I've resolved my ignition issues by going back and confirming all wiring/connections. I've got good spark now and ~10 degrees advance with SAW disconnected. Started with a base MS2 config and adjusted only what I needed for my particular setup. Starts and idles, albeit rough. Should also mention I upgraded code to v2.905.
However I now have a new problem, my O2 sensor never reads anything below reference air voltage while the engine is running. I'll post a new question on this in the sensor section along with current config and logs.
