hello everyone im currently finishing up wireing on my project im good on the rest of the wireing except the shielded wire that comes off the edis pin #7 i looked at the diagram and could see that its connected to the saw n pip signals also the vrs positive and ground signal... but i have no idea what the actual physical connection should look like. im sure its a dumb question but if anyone can enlighten me it would be greatly appreciated!

The shield or screen is an outer layer of conductive material, usually copper, which is wrapped round the main cores of the cable, but not connected to them. So a third conductor. The purpose is to stop electrical interference entering or leaving the main conductors. There are two common types, wrapped and braided. To make the connection to it you unwrap enough to give a tail long enough for what's needed to get to the connection. Braided is teased out strand by strand using a sharp object like a pin to again give a tail of the length needed. Twist and sleeve that tail with PVC sleeving and a bit of heat shrink over the end of the outer insulation and the now three wires. Connect the two screen tails - from VR sensor and PIP/SAW together and then to Pin7 on the EDIS plug. At the other end of the cables, cut the screen back by the same amount as the outer insulation of the cable and sleeve with some heat shrink in the same way as the other end - but the screen isn't connected to anything at this end.
Basically, on some installations the screen isn't needed at all. It depends on the amount of electrical interference generated by the plugs etc and if the cable runs pick that up. But it does no harm, so is safer to have one.
