Learning Assembly Language

If you were to point someone with an interest in learning assembly language in a direction (so I can become more involved with MS programming), where would that be? I've begun accumulating some assembly language books for other processors....but not sure if I have some of the best learning material. I guess I'm asking for a good starting point. This site does mention some books but I was looking for something a bit more basic. I have done "some" programming back in school (Qbasic :? ) so at least I know what a program by definition is. Never the less, I am willing to give it another shot. My goal is to read & practice until I learn. Thanks!

Assembly was only used on the MSI. The MSII was developed in the C language. It would be better to get good with C.
