Problems Starting

I've got a 91' Capri race car (same engine as 1600 Miata) that I managed to blow up the bottom end of. Build a new engine with the same Megasquirt ECU(MS-I 2.2), cam's, injectors(240cc) etc. Tried starting it and it would not start. I was out of work for a while so the car has sat for the last two years. I did manage to wipe out the original settings and had to start from scratch but I think I'm pretty close. Trying to get it to start again with no luck. Double checked the cam and ignition timing with a light and everything looks good. Double checked to make sure plug wires were not crossed. Fuel pressure at the rail is 43lbs, like it was before. The engine is tight so turns over a little slow. I get an occasional backfire through the throttle body and sometimes I'll get a few slight backfires in a row. Anyone seen anything like this? I know backfiring when a engine is running usually means its lean but I don't think it's the case here, I've run the cranking pw from 7 to 20 and it does not seem to make a difference. The Req fuel is 12 which what it was before. I'd appreciate any ideas.

Please post a data log of an attempted start and a copy of your MSQ.

You have some pretty big noise issues. How is the RPM input wired up?

Also, your cranking pulse width looks a bit too rich. But the RPM noise may have flooded it already.
