MSefi.com read only forum (Jan.15,2018)

I have a truck that I put together and got running about a year and a half ago with a megasquirt 2 I,ve had since 2006. I have made some small changes to the running gear and want to do some fine tuning but the megatune I have downloaded wont connect because it does not seem to have the 2.3 ini file in the configurator. I want to update the firmware but i dont want to loose the maps that I have because it runs pretty good. I either need an older version of megatune or I need to know if there is some way to make the current version of megatune connect. It seems the version I have has the 2.35 ini firmware. Any help would be greatly appreciated

If it was mine I would save my msq, export my tables (just to be safe) and upgrade to the latest B&G code. Which is 2.95 IIRC.

Why not switch to TunerStudio while you're at it. (MT is pretty much a thing of the past)

EDIT: oops... that was supposed to be version 2.905

I am going to update my firmware but my point is that I have nothing to comunicate with msq 2.3ini so that I can save my maps and reload them into the new version.

I understand. My intention was to suggest upgrading once you are able to capture your existing tune.

Ummm,,, I don,t know what to do with that. I can tell you thet when I tuned it About a year and a half to 2 years ago, I had a version of megatune that had the 2.30000ini in the configurator. All the versions of megatune I can find now will only do 2.6 and higher. I can't believr that there in noplace out there to download a version of megatune that has the 2.3 ini in the configurator. Rename the file to: megasquirt-II_23.ini

Then put it in the vehicle's /mtCfg/ subfolder. That way you bypass the configurator.

For example, if the MegaTune project is at: C:\Program Files\MegaSquirt\MyCar\

Then put the renamed megasquirt-II.ini file in: C:\Program Files\MegaSquirt\MyCar\mtCfg\ and it will automatically be used when MegaTune starts up.

Or better yet, use TunerStudio - it's works better and has better setup options. For TunerStudio, the file above becomes: mainController.ini in the projectCfg subfolder, usually something like: C:\Users\Myname\Documents\TunerStudioProjects\MyCar\projectCfg\ but you can install the INI by navigating to it when doing the project set-up rather than by renaming/moving it.
