Bosch K-Jetronic (CIS) Ignition to MS-II ignition

I want to start running ignition control with MS-II and V3.0 board (running great on fuel-only currently) on my former 1979 CIS car, now modified to a hot street setup. I want to use the original Bosch VR distributor, Bosch coil and transistor ignition module (Bosch 0 227 100 008 (not124)). The ignition module takes care of dwell and I believe will be adequate since I am not increasing redline and the modifications are moderate.

Has anyone had experience with this configuration? If so, do you remember how it was wired and does my plan below make sense?

My plan is to:
Re-route the VR signal wire from the dist. to pin #24 and output to the module from pin #36.
Use the stock VR distributor without the vacuum advance module and locked-out mechanism.
Configure the MS-II internally to not use the high current ignition driver.
Set the Trigger Offset to 0 and other controls as necessary.

Thanks, Mike Hemingway

I did that on my RV8 which used a similar Lucas dizzy, but changed to EDIS. There are lots of reasons not to use a dizzy - poor accuracy of the firing pulse due to play in the drive, and the inherent problems with a rotor arm spark distribution. I also found it very difficult to get the phasing of the rotor arm right since it is no longer moved by the mechanical advance if you lock this - made worse with mine having 8 cylinders.
If I were doing it now, I might investigate MS firing the wasted spark coils directly, rather than using the EDIS module.

Thanks Dave, you bring up some valid concerns. I too am working with a V8 engine. I will look into the EDIS option a little more as I do not fully understand it's configuration and weeknesses. Maybe someone has addressed these issues????
Thanks again, Mike
