Step 71. I says FET protection is recommended. What are the reasons one would not install FET protection?

Some use the positions the resistors fit on the heatsink to install extra coil drivers, etc.
Incidentally, it's possible to buy these resistors in a normal screw fitting TO220 package. Do wish MS would supply these.

With (2) cylinders and waste spark I won't be needing the extra coil drivers.
