We have the car starting and idling just fine. However, the rpm's are jumping around a bit. We have an oscilloscope and all i can find is to use pin2 of JP1 and pin 14 on the daughter card. I was hoping to not touch things on the board, but if I have to, how can i safely use the probes from the scope on the board?

Scope JP1 for the input side of the VR conditioner, and J1 for the output.

I should have been more clear, when i touched one probe to the JP2 there was an uncomfortable 'buzz'. I am concerned about damaging the board. Should I be grounding the scope's probe to something? I am a computer geek rather than an electronics geek.

In general, the scope probe would be grounded to the circuit under test.
However, the 'buzz' that you are hearing is
not normal!

Where does the sound seem to be coming from? What sort of probe are you using (ie. 1:1, 10:1 etc)?
