This is the forum to discuss the MegaStim, which provides a simulated environment to test your MegaSquirt® controller, as well as Jeff Corsaro's stim breakout PC board.

Can the stim be used by itself?

Post by badshoe »

I have a JimStim 1.3 and I know it's used while attached to the megasquirt for testing however, can it be used by itself as an bench engine? I would like to use it for the tps, rpm etc. when bench testing MSD rpm switch, Zex nitrous tps input and other future car related controls. If so, how is it setup for standalone operation, thanks....Ken?

Probably; you could just create a harness that attaches to the DB37 or the screw terminals.

Thanks Matt. It looks like the 5 volt ref. comes from the megasquirt when it's plugged in therefore, I will at least, need to add an external 5 v supply.

I made up an adaptor to use my Stim to do a rough check on a Lucas 4CU ECU. That has a 5 v ouput. (all it does is to check the injector open times do vary with temperature, etc, in conjunction with a scope)
