EDIS Camshaft Position Sensor

I used the search tool and wasn't able to find my answer. Can the Ford Explorer 5.0 camshaft position sensor replace the tooth crank sensor used to send a signal to the Ford EDIS module? I'm aware the camshaft only does one revolution for every 2 of the crank which I suspect is the obstacle.

EDIS uses a 36-1 toothed wheel crank driven. Any variation from that won't work. It might be possible to do wasted spark via MS using just your cam position sensor - but you'd need to ask on the Extra forum. However, using a cam sensor as the primary trigger isn't ideal.

Thanks for the response, after posting I read more and now realize the toothed wheel is responsible for a signal every 10 deg, not just at the missing tooth. I guess I will get back to designing a sensor bracket.
