I currently am working on this project:
1972 Ford Maverick 393 stroker v8, .566\.598 roller cam,aluminum Victor heads and port injection intake 1500 cfm throttle body
Edis 8 wired as a standalone ignition with Megasquirt adjusting the advance( two wires going to megasquirt).36-1 wheel\vr sensor.
42 lb green top Bosch injectors, brand new.high impedance ev-1 style.
I am running a MS2357-C pcb v 3.57 from DIYAutoTune with firmware V 2.890 REV A.

I have cranking rpm around 135-140 Rpm.
TPS sensor reads correctly and is calibrated .
I have fuel pressure setting at 50 psi,fuel pump runs while cranking.
I am getting ignition advance of about 16.6 degrees when cranking.
Air temp and water temp sensors are working properly.
It will start and run as long as I squirt fuel in the throttle body manually.
I have the settings for the injectors in the tuner software set according to the Megamanual.
I don't have an o2 sensor at this time or an idle control system.
I previously tested the entire system with a Stimulator unit and everything seemed to work fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

An msq and log might be helpful at this point, I would think. Have you confirmed that you have 12v to the injectors during cranking?

I do have 12 volts at the injectors, checking with a digital voltmeter, even while cranking the voltage drops down to around 9.9 v at the lowest point before I give it up and let the battery rest.

One thing jumped out at me as soon as I opened your msq. Your original post says you are running MS2 but your msq is set to microsquirt! You need to change that for sure. I will look at it more when I get a few minutes.

I cant believe I overlooked something so obvious, I just went out to the garage and it fired up! I guess I just needed a fresh eye to peer into my frustration! Thanks and let me know if you see other major mistakes! It feels so good to hear this engine jump to life, finally!!
I can now maybe do some tuning, any suggestions on an o2 sensor or do I need two?

Glad to see you got it going. Sometimes it is very easy to miss the obvious......

As I suspect you already know, it would be very difficult to accomplish any meaningful tuning without a wide band. I have tried several and this is the one I settled on.

I love it! I use one on my sbc stroker. IMHO, you don't really need 2 sensors although others may disagree.

Best buy out there, IMO!

EDIT: Since you got it running you might want to post up a new msq and log.............

A couple more things jumped out at me when I looked at your tune again.......

Why do you have AFR set to 9.8 (normally set to 14.7 for gasoline) in your ReqFuel calculation? That will cause a profound difference in the pw calculation!

Your cranking RPM is set to 175.... generally this is set around 300, sometimes even higher......

Nothing else strikes me at the moment.... Hopefully one of the guru's will come by and catch anything I missed.

Just to clarify my question..... 9.8 would probably be close enough for E85..... your earlier post didn't specify which you are using....

i will make these changes. i guess i just misinterpreted the data for those settings, it seems like it is running lean so im not going to fry the motor, i am going to purchase the sensor you recommend and see how she runs then, the idle is high around 1200 rpm, is that normal?

oh i am running 10 % ethanol gasoline, compression ratio is 10:1.

does this sensor just plug right in to the Ms relay board? nothing else required? if so the i am settled on it. where did you mount your o2 sensor?

Yes, the linear output will connect to your relay board.

No other hardware or mods required

I mounted mine in the left bank collector (more a matter of convenience than anything).

Can anyone tell me exactly how to wire the spartan lambda wide band o2 sensor by 14.7 to the ms relay board, it has five wires and I want to get it right the first time?

Spartan Sensor User Manual

Red to the Fuel Pump Relay output (switched & fused +12v only on while the engine is running)
Black to the MS sensor ground pin(19)
White to the engine block
Green to the O2 pin (23) on the DB37
Tape up Brown, unless you're piggybacking with the OEM box and it needs a NBO2 signal to prevent a tantrum.

Well the beast is running with the Spartan Lambda Wide band hooked up, but not really well, it seems to only rev to about 2000 rpm and feels rough when accelerating. I think the timing must be off or a setting is restricting the rev. I have checked the rev limiter settings 5500 low ,6500 high........
How is the best way to check timing( proper procedure) with no timing pointer and an old timer timing light? I have the VR sensor mounted a little lower than the factory pointer. Should i try to mount a factory pointer or make one? I have a Nascar belt drive with no provisions for timing pointer.
