Happy...then sad...

hello...

I finally managed to get connection between the Laptop and the MS...but after some time, while I was configuring the constants, I lost connection...

And Firmware was somehow "lost"...Is this a known problem?...I have searched the forum, but not been able to see anything similar...
It seemed like I had to put in new firmware with the Downloader...But when I did, I couldnt match the ini file to it...not even if I used an older "pair"...
(I looked at the Easyterm...but I`m not sure how to use it...and having made connection with what I already have...there must be something else wrong)

I have come so far that `veI got the Fuelpump relay to click on and off...but I`m still not connected...like I was...

So...I`m hoping to get some help here...

I have a MS2 with 3,57...with Boostcontrol, VR input and IGN2 modifications...

Is there somehow impossible for me to upload new ini file because of some settings I made during the time I WAS connected?...

MS2 does not use Easytherm.

I would try reloading the firmware with the standard loader and take it from there. If you get an error message, please post a screen shot.

Yes...I did...and tried again today...

The Screen shot option is something I need to look into...maybe its the laptop I`m using in the car...but it surely doesnt work...In my frustration, I snapped a few pictures of the screen with my phone...He he

The loading of the s19 code? file? works fine...I tried the "Monitor v2.920.abs.s19" file...everything seems OK..."verification succeeded,1472 records total (4 skipped)"...then I exit the downloader program, turn the ignition off, and remove the boot jumper...(correct?)

Then I opened the TunerStudio...tried to do it as I`m supposed to do it...I`ve tried several times to start a new tune, hoping it would help...so that old changes shouldn`nt interfere with the implement of a "new" ini file...
But no...When I try to upload an ini file...it sais: "there appears to be no firmware loaded"...does that imply that it can not see that I have put in an s19 file?...The last few days I`ve been thinking it is...What is firmware really?...Is it both s19 file and ini file?...or just one of them...

anyways..."A controller was found on RXTX: Port:Com1,baud:115200.
However, there appears to be no firmware loaded.
Please check help for information on getting and installing firmware." (Didn`t I just do that I`m thinking)

"You must have firmware installed to connect"...(Dont know how many times I`ve seen that...so I`m starting to understand)

And as I`ve tried to explain...I WAS connected, after I somehow, and suddenly got the option of letting TunerStudio"ignore" a few changes and connect anyway...(dont remember the exact text...was frustrated!)
But I lost that connection, when I was changing some settings...think it was: single or dual ignition output...I think I have to change that, to get my Coil to distribute sparks...

Does anything of this ,make any sense?...what am I doing wrong?...
and YES...It IS my first time doing this...so please...no annoying comments...This forum is for newbs to...There might be a slim possibility that I can learn this....eventually...

And the ini file was version; megasquirt-II 2920.ini...

as I found them on the http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/code.htm ...

the ini file shows up as a text file...but I instead found it in the http://www.megamanual.com/files/ini/ ...expecting it to be the right one...

I read and wondered a lot about me using the 3.830 code....on the http://www.megamanual.com/files/ini/ page...but since it was all about the Miqrosquirt bootloader...i figured it wasnt right for my setup...(but I did try it...in desperation....didnt work...

Let's try a different test. To do this check, you'll need the program portcheck.exe. If you don't have a copy, download it here:

http://www.DIYAutoTune.com/downloads/tu ... tCheck.zip

Power up the Megasquirt and connect it to your PC. You do not need to open the case and should not put the boot jumper in place for this test. Close TunerStudio if it's running, and run the portcheck.exe program. When this program starts, it will scan the available COM ports.

If the port it's scanning is not connected to a working Megasquirt, or it's on the wrong speed, it'll say "No connection made." If it's on the right port and right speed, it will give you the version of the Megasquirt firmware that's on the Megasquirt.

If you get a port where it replies with "S" or something else that doesn't look like a firmware version, this port is probably a mouse port or other port that echoes back everything that's typed. You can usually ignore these unless you're doing certain specific tests.

Let me know exactly what the program says.

Here it is...

Com1 Opened
115200 baud
"blank MS2 or MS3 found - you need to load firmware"
9600 baud
"Æ"ing `s`

1valid port found.

Hit return when done...

From what I understand, it should be able to communicate with the MS...the fact that it mentions the "S" you were talking about on 9600 baud...worries me anyway...

There should be firmware on/in it...because I think I`ve done it by the "book" for the installation of firmware...

I tried another laptop to....it doesn`t have a DB9 connector...so I tried the USB to Serial I`ve got....but it didnt come up with more then " no connection made"..."didnt even try"

From what I`ve told you...what do you think my problem is Matt...besides from the obvious I meen...

Peder

+The fuelpumprelay sycles on and of when I turn the ignition on....If that matters...I think I saw in a post here that it meens that the MS is running, but there is no connection orsomething...like my grandpa..."engine is running...but there is nobody behind the wheel"

Hello...

I`m in again!! :yeah!: ...at last...not sure what made the difference....don`t care really...I`ll find out another time....now I just want this engine running...

I now have the 2.92 s19 file and the 2.92 ini file "running"...

I `wondering what to do when preparing for startup...I think tomorrow will be å long one...

I have the fuses for injectors and fuelpump REMOVED, so that they dont work while I figure out how they should be controlled... :RTFM:

I have low impedance injectors (about 2.6 ohm)(from cosworth, europe)...272ccm...whitch meens "peak and hold"...to prevent torching the injectors...(PWM).

I have the IGN-4 four tower ignition coil...

To get this up and running...I`ll start with those...but I think that changing to dual spark output will test me...

I was right....The correct settings still elude me... :?

Has anyone else got a similar setup?

4 sylinder
PWM idle
4 low imp injectors...
(Turbocharged)

Using MS2 3.57 With two outputs for ignition, using IGN-4 coil, 36-1 triggerwheel with hall effect sensor.

I decided to use the relay Board in all of this, just because I thought it might be safer for me....not having done this before...and being more familiar with a socket-wrench than a computer...

This is beginning to look like ablog  ...but thats not my intention...
I`m just mentioning what I`m doing...and right now, things might have to do with the codes...

Tomorrow I am going to try the ToothAnalyzer...Thinking I can`t get a spark if the MS doesn`t recieve a signal from the crank...
So even if I now have the right settings for my "dual spark output"...That isnt very helpful if I dont have a signal, or the signal isn`t any good...

If I find out that it IS recieving good signals...I`m actually surprised...I meen...It SHOULD...but I`m pretty sure it doesn`t.
Because my plugs aint firing...

Today I found out something that turned the tides...I have used the wrong downloader program... :)

So now everything looks much brighter...I still haven`t got spark out of my plugs, but knowing the codes is sorted makes it a small problem...
The options on Tunerstudio changed, and I have found many of those i missed after reading the manual and such...

This meens I have to move my questions to another part of this forum  ...If anyone has had, or is having similar problems, as I have tried to discribe in my posts here, I hope I have been loud and clear in my posts so that they might have helped others to...

By the way...toothanalyser...I am not recieving signals from my cranksensor...somehow...and I think that is why sparks are not flying...
