I don't know where you may have seen that, but it is definitely not the case!I thought I read somewhere that the dimensions of the Cross-fire manifold were slightly different with regard to the surface that the distributor rests on
As a former 1984 Corvette owner, I am well familiar with Crossfire FI. The CF manifold will absolutely accept any standard (gen 1) SBC dizzy (nothing special going on there). If you have access to a benevolent machinist, you can make an oil pump drive using an old HEI dizzy as I did here. It would appear to me though, that it might be just as cost effective to outright purchase the Mallory unit, as opposed to having one machined as I did.
Hope that helps a little!
Ken

Your project sounds very interesting and I particularly like the idea of using the CrossFire TBI on your 283. IMO the finest Chevy engine ever built (got to include 265 & 327 in there also)! Years ago, I ran a couple different small blocks with the old Rochester (called it RottenChester in those days) mechanical FI! I am guessing here, but I suspect that you can build substantially more horsepower with the CrossFire than we could with the old Rochester unit.
I am looking forward to your posts as you go along with your project to see how the CFI unit works with MS2!
By all means, post up if you need any additional help.
Ken
