No RPM on tach in Megatune. Edis 6 setup

I have a Ms2 V3.0 2.68 code with megatune.. Bought it new from DiY.com 8 years ago. Was working fine on my Turbo 280zx setup. Yes its older code but it should still run this set up. Will load new code and tuner studio once this engine runs on its own. Swapped my L28 engine over for a 2JZ engine and trying to run a 36-1 trigger wheel ,vr sensor and edis6.
I have everything but an rpm signal for the tach in Megatune. Board is setup for the Hall sensor. Engine has spark, I can run it on starting fluid.
Settings are
Trigger offset 0
Ign input capt Rising Edge
cranking trigger calculated
coil charge scheme Edis
spark out going high inverted
trigger wheel teeth 0
predictor algorythm Last interval
Looking for any assistance with this no tach signal issue. Cant send an Msq at this time. Working on it.
Thank you in advance

Does the MegaSquirt get RPM on a Stim?

You need to examine the PCB components for the opto input. If it was built for the tach signal from a single coil, diodes D1 and D2 will need bridging for the signal from EDIS. Details are in the MegaManual, but here is the relevant bit:-
V3.0 main board:
DB37 pin #36 to the SAW pin (#3) on the ignition module
DB37 pin #24 to the PIP pin (#1) on the ignition module
On the V3.0 main board:
use the 'Hall sensor circuit' (step #50.a in the assembly guide) - jumper D1 and D2,
jumper OPTOIN to TACHSELECT on the bottom side of the PCB, near the DB37 connector, opposite the heat sink,
jumper TSEL to OPTOOUT on the bottom side of the PCB, near the center.
jumper JS10 to IGN (this uses the processor port for the SAW signal directly),
jumper XG1 to XG2 on the bottom side of the PCB, near the 40 pin socket,

Matt, I dont have a stim. But used an oscillascope on the Pip wire from the Edis Module. Shows a square wave of about 4volts. No square wave on the Saw wire but i understand why. Megasquirt doesnt see Pip so no Saw output. 12volt switched wire to Edis module, has power when key is on and when cranking.
Board is jumpered like this: Removed the covers and checked.
Js10 (ign) to Ign
Js9 to S12c
Js3 to 1AC2B
Js2 TO 1AC2A
Js1 to 1AC1B
Js0 to 1AC1A
Opto Out to Tsel
Optoin to Tach Select
XG1to XG2
This is how my board was jumpered from DIY, Was Jumpered this way from them.
I adjusted the vr trim pots and same result. Adjusted R56 andR52, R56 to 6 turns clockwise and left it there. As was suggested by another member.
I dont have anything hooked to the #4 terminal of the Edis 6 module. Read its for Ignition ground ( signal return ) Does anything need to go there??..
Pip wire, the #24 wire, is Shielded from the Edis module to Db37 connector.
Can this be an Ignition settings issue??.
Thanks again, Cant upload an Msq May just send in settings screen shots.

Me thinks (IIRC) you need to ground pin 4!!!

According the EDIS6 diagram in the MegaManual, pin4 on the EDIS module is NC.

Could be..... Working from memory here.....

What is NC ??.. No Connection ??.. Do i need to ground pin #4 ??..
Thank you guys, Just trying to get my engine running on its own. Been 2 weeks working on this issue.

It's an interesting one (to me) - EDIS grounding. On mine,(EDIS

the only EDIS ground is to the engine block. So the PIP signal ground is shared with the high current ones. I suppose being a relatively high voltage signal, it doesn't matter. Seems to work ok, anyway. Just worried me. Many things do.

NC is no connection
Have you checked D1 and D2 are jumpered?
Might help if you posted a decent pic of the PCB if you're not sure.

Trakkies, I will try to take a picture of the board tonight.

Can you check if you are getting a square wave at TSEL?

Matt will have to ask friend to bring oscillascope back to check for that.
Have to make pics of board smaller, before posting.
Hope this MSQ loads, All recommendations appreciated. Set for Crank trigger wheel.

FWIW... That's some kinda old firmware you got there.....

Kjones,
Yes as was stated in my first post, Ms2 Worked on my intial install, never needed to do anything else. Now i have changed engines and added EDIS 6 I would like for this engine to run on its own.

Try 50% next pulse tolerances.

Just seen this. Can't load that MSQ in TunerStudio, for some reason.
But IIRC if it's the same as later, trigger wheel should be set to 0 ie off.

Trakkies,
Maybe my MSQ is way to old for tuner studio. Lol Maybe try opening it up in another program.
First post has my settings listed, Trigger wheel teeth 0, Trigger offset 0, crank trigger calculated.

Matt, Changed Cranking pulse tolerence % to 50%. Now shows 205 rpm but my Tach gauge is still Red. So a little better result.
I left the after start and running % at 0, When I put 50% in the those boxes and cranked it over, 0 rpm, still Red Tach.
I get the same 205 rpm with A Red gauge, from 20% cranking to 90% cranking. When I adjusted back to 0%, 10%, or 100% no numbers in Red Rpm Gauge.
Changed cranking rpm from 160 - 300rpm, still dont have a good Rpm.
