Hello,

Can anyone tell me how to put the case screws in. I checked the document and it doesn't say how they go in. The screws I got for the MS II don't seem to go in easy. I would love to finish the build and start tuning, but there are no threaded holes to go it, and it is difficult to force them in.

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

The screws that come in the kit are #4 wood screws. Therefore, they are a bit tight on first installation because they have to cut their own threads. Fortunately they become much easier second time around.

Just screw them in and they will be just fine!

Just spent an hour working on them, a bit tight to say the least lol. Still have not been able to run one down all the way. Will have to go back to it when my hand is not so tired. Thinking about reaming out the case.

Not a bad idea at all and should work fine! I have used a small drill bit on occasion, to ream the holes just a bit myself. You need to take care of course, that you don't go too far. Worst case being, a broken screw, which I have done myself. A pain, but not too difficult to repair.

Other thing is the heads are what we in the UK call Pozidriv. IIRC, Philips head is still common in the US, so you may have to search out the correct screwdriver. A Philips screwdriver will slip all too readily in a Pozidriv head. The screwdriver (or bit) should be marker PZ. PZ2 is ideal for this job.
Do also make sure the screw is 'square' to the face to start. You could use a longer screw to make this easier to see, and to form the thread. Then fit the correct ones.

Sorry - that should read PZ1 as the correct screwdriver bit size.

Absolutely not, Ken. The design of the Philips is very different to a PoziDrive. I'd guess if you Google you'll find pics. Basically PZ doesn't 'cam' out with PZ screws.

If it's not something you can find I'll dig out a pic. Philips head is now pretty rare in the UK - but plenty still seem to sell the screwdrivers. So I'd guess it is still common elsewhere in the world.

As regards Edit, could it be you can only do so until it has been viewed by someone else?

Found a couple of brief articles and pictures on Pozidrive. And all this time I've been grinding the points off my Phillips bits because they were 'bottoming' in the screw heads, when they were already done for me!!!

So far I think I have figured out that you can edit as long as you stay in the thread. Once you leave and return you can no longer edit, unlike the other forum.

EDIT: Well....... I proved myself wrong again!! Left the thread, returned and I can still edit.......Damned if I know.......

Perhaps the main difference is the points of the star have parallel sides, while Phillips are tapered.

A Phillips driver has an angle on the flanks, a pointed tip and rounded corners. The Pozidriv screwdrivers have straight sided flanks, a blunt tip and additional smaller angles at 45 degrees to the main slots. The Pozidriv was designed specifically to allow much greater torque to be applied because of its more positive engagement.

As I said, Pozi are normally marked PZ, Phillips PH. At my age you need a magnifying glass to read them.

Thanks for the info about the PZ vs the Ph. Where I am from I still come across a lot of Philips (with the exception of wood screws). I always wondered why my Philips would have this pointed tip and not engage the screw properly. I was always looking for a blunt noise Philips for some stuff. Anyway, read the wiki site. Good stuff.

P.S. my case is now together. Trying to hold them straight while turn them in the first time was one of the biggest problems.

Yes - it would be much more difficult with the wrong screwdriver. A PZ type tends to hold the screw pretty square to the bit making it easier to line up.
