I'm want to mount a MAT sensor in my intake tract somewhere between the turbo and throttle body. What kind of fittings do people use, and where do you find them? I'm using a GM IAT which I understand has 3/8 NPT threads.

Most of the intake tract is rubber hose. There are a couple points where I have joints with short sections of steel pipe. It would be easiest to go into the rubber hose, but I'm not sure what kind of fitting would work. (without worrying about boost blowing out the sensor).

Late model GM's have a grommet mount IAT that is funtionally identical to the screw in one. You just stick it into a grommet and go. Check the parts stores to look at one. They're cheap.

IMO on a boosted application you'd be better off with the threaded sensor.(for these exact reasons you have stated)
I would just locate a convenient spot spot where there's adequate pipe wall thickness, drill a 3/16" pilot hole, 7/16" finish hole, and run a 1/4 NPT tap ONLY AS FAR AS NECCESSARY (not all the way through as NPT is a tapered thread)
