MS2 Works on stim, stops when DB9 plugs in

After driving just fine for about a year, at a stop light I went to go when the light turned green and the car sputtered and died on me. I was barely able to fire it back up and get pulled over out of the way.

After some testing of the board and relay board, it seems I am getting all the 12V as I ...

Re: Stumble on quick throttle open, not on gradual

So, I have the car running well now, drives great, accelerates great. But one thing I did do was try turning the accel enrich off, and the car didn't even want to idle. How would accel affect idle if you aren't accelerating? I re-burned the working code after it did this and it idled great so I have ...

Re: Stumble on quick throttle open, not on gradual

Think I figured out the slight hesitation/stumble. I worked the Accell bins and it fixed it. I will have to work on the VE bins and Accell bins more knowing what it is.

Also, seems my O2 sensor issue is due to not calibrating the sensor in megatune, I calibrated the LC-1......but didn't realize I ...

Stumble on quick throttle open, not on gradual

Working on tuning the car now. I have a throttle response stumble when I open the throttle quick, kinda sounds like a bog and then the RPM's pick up. Looking at the data-log it looks like a delayed response. If I open the throttle slower and more gradual it just revs and roars like it should.

So ...

Re: Close to starting, pops out exhaust

Yes, this was the issue. I have to adjust my mindset......I thought it could be this....but then I just assumed since I had hooked it up the way I did last time (or assumed I did) that it had to be a setting.

Thanks for pointing out what was probably obvious! It starts!! now the tricky part begins!

Re: Close to starting, pops out exhaust

I am hoping you guys are right! Plug wires are in the same spot as when I had the car running with carbs on (i tested the EDIS in limp home before I pulled and did the full EFI), so I guess this 180 out could only be the case if I mixed up the two wires for the coil A/B sides eh?

Is there no ...

Close to starting, pops out exhaust

Well, i'm finally close to getting the car started, but I'm right at the point where it backfires/pops out the exhaust after about 5-8 seconds of cranking. So, something with the ignition seems to be off a bit, though I'm having trouble figuring out what. I am posting 2 small datalogs to see if ...

Re: No TPS response with stim or in car

Welp, good and bad news!

I bought a new MS-II card, put it in and loaded code, had the same issue.....bummer I thought. Well I should have done this earlier......but I loaded older code on (2.67) and was able to get things to work, on the new card and the old car.....so the problem must have come ...

Re: No TPS response with stim or in car

No, I did do the fully open and closed values and got 1023 and 1023 (1023 when fully closed and 1023 when fully open), when I opened the calibration window up, the default setting was at 0 and 1023 (just mentioning this as usually when I opened it was at 0 and 0)

Re: No TPS response with stim or in car

Ok, so I loaded the code (at least I think I did). By this you mean power down, put the jumper on, open MS download 2.0. File open, select the code (in this case monitor_v2.891.abs ) and burn.

I did this, it said successful at the end of all the script. Then I powered down, moved the jumper, opened ...

Re: No TPS response with stim or in car

Ok, I did the test and I get 1 (fully counter-clockwise) and 14 (fully clockwise) as the closed and open values

Re: No TPS response with stim or in car

I tried this test with the stim calibrating the TPS (before I posted here) and I believe I got 0 values for both wide open and fully closed, though I will test again tonight when I am back home.

Thanks,

Bryan

Re: No TPS response with stim or in car

Matt, not sure if I understood your direction for testing, I put the + lead of the meter on pin 26 of the MSII daughter card and the - on the ground strip for the board. I turned the stim pot and the voltage did go up and down, 3.9v for full lock one way and 0.0 full lock the other.

No TPS response with stim or in car

I have a V3.0 MSII, running the latest version of code 2.891.

My issue I discovered trying to configure the TPS in the car taking the closed and open values, both returned 14 as the ADC count. So I started digging deeper to see if my wiring was messed up, if I had voltage and the correct resistance ...

Re: Lost power to injectors, engine was running, works on stim

I'm kinda wondering what the LED's on the megasquirt are telling me, if they don't flash when I am cranking.

"The Injector LED on the MegaSquirt lights when either Injector bank is commanded to fire, while the injector LEDs on the Stimulator light when each injector bank actually is grounded. The ...

Re: Lost power to injectors, engine was running, works on stim

I was getting 9V on one, but don't seem to be getting it anymore. The car originally ran fine, then was down to 1 cylinder, now it won't start at all (not getting fuel)

I'm not grounding to the relay board, the ground wire just runs to the terminal strip where it then gets grounded (like its ...

Re: Lost power to injectors, engine was running, works on stim

I know it doesn't get power from the MS, but if the Megasquirt or code were the issue, then the stim would not have the injector LED's flashing like they are.

Wiring looks good, wire goes to injector from +12V, goes to relay for ground, no shorts, no loose wires.......

What could have changed ...

Lost power to injectors, engine was running, works on stim

I have been tuning the car for the past few weeks trying to get the car drivable and on the road. Last night I went to start it up and do some more tuning and it was idling a lot more rough than usual. I found out that injector 1 was the only one firing (then), and now today trying to figure it out ...

Need place to start, first start attempts failed

I am in the stages of trying to get my car running after installing MSII with the relay board and EDIS-4 and my EFI set-up.

When I turn it over it sounds like i'm getting just plain dry cranking, none of the ignition or fuel seems to be doing anything.

I guess I need a place to start. The sensors ...

So how would this be wired? Run two wires from 12V ign (one going to pin 2, and one going to pin 8 of the connector).

How would you wire the pin 2 of the coil? 1 wire comes out, so do you split it, one going to the 12V, and the other wire going to the ground?

I've almost got it ;)

Thanks for ...
