durson1,

I've been following this thread for awhile as I'm trying to smooth out the SD to MAF bump also using B&G v2.90.

I am sure in TS (v0.999.3) there was a menu where you could select from several of the more common MAF curves, sorta like calibrating the thermistors..., can't find it now though.

Anyway I've copied the maffactor_default.ini to the "mycar/projectcfg" folder as well as the folder "inc" and get the same error you do.

If you look in the MyCar folder there is a file called "maftableburner.log" and all it contains is what I'd call a "header". No errors logged. It should contain all the data that was sent if the log file for O2 calib can be used as an example.

Maybe Phil can tell us what we're doing wrong...

The file that TS will use has to be named maffactor.inc. The _default is just so you save the original file. Your files look fine and should work if copied into maffactor.inc.

Again, if it doesn't work I will test it out next Wed.

'66fb,

I got it to work. The directions say to name it "maffactor_default.inc" don't do that. Don't name it "maffactor.inc" either. Name it "maffactor" the ".inc" extension is just the file extension.
Use the Excel program that I attached which was created by arr_kid. (Thanks for that. Us excel ameteurs greatly appreciate it)
Load the default maffactor file.
Run the offset to what ever % you want.
Save it. (Whatever the excel program spits out as "newmaffactor" don't peter with it at all. Don't change anything on it.)
Rename it "maffactor"
Put it in your projectcfg folder of your project where your "ini" is.
Start up TS, power up MS, tools, calibrate maf, write to controller.
And it should work.

I loaded the default one, and a few different modified ones this way.

Thanks grippo. I knew that ".inc" was the file extension, but seeing that I should rename my file "maffactor_default.inc" thats exactly what I did. I also, after your last post tried "maffactor.inc" which didn't work either because that named the file "maffactor.inc.inc" with the file extension on there. I guess for us non code writer savey guys things llike that need to be dumbed down a bit. Rename the file maffactor, I would have gotten 1st time.

Thanks again.

Yeah I just didn't want people to destroy the file that was originally in the directory, so that is the file I meant to copy into _default, because that is what it is and you can always check that it works by copying it into plain maffactor.inc. Then you call your new file maffactor_new.inc or whatever. Then you copy whichever you want into maffactor.inc. TS only looks for maffactor.inc.

Hey guys, I've just been mucking around with the 2.9 code and everything seems to be working well, however I thought I should add that it seems like your replacement maffactor.inc file must be formatted identically to the default file or TunerStudio may refuse to write the transfer function to the controller. The method I posted earlier using Microsoft Word does not appear to work exactly as I expected, the files looked the same in Notepad but when I opened them up in an HTML editor and turned invisible characters on I found they didn't match. Sorry if this has caused anyone any grief.

Just FYI I am using an 05+ Ford style MAF in a 2.5" pipe and have it installed in the middle of a 12" straight section. Sitting right on about 5g/sec at idle and it seems very steady, I was able to get it drivable in about 5 minutes on the standard transfer function just by fiddling with the correction table. Heat soak at idle doesn't seem to be an issue any longer and because the signal is so steady I no longer need any MAF/MAP averaging which noticeably improved the throttle response. All good results so far, I'll keep you guys posted.

Cheers,
Sam
