tmap sensor a good idea?

I'm putting a 2006 Ford ranger duratec I4 engine into my 1993 nissan 240sx and am using megasquirt 3.0. I did not get a intake air temperature sensor with the engine and I've been looking into what my options are. One option that seems nice and clean is replacing my stock map (manifold absolute pressure) sensor with a combined tmap (temperature manifold absolute pressure) sensor that came on the mondeo. The sensor is located on the middle of the intake manifold after the throttle body and before the runners. My worries are that because of the sensor being so close to the engine heat that I might get odd readings. Also it is quite hard to get any info on this sensor (response time, etc). IAT sensors are usually placed on the maf further upstream. What do you guys think? Has anyone had any experience with tmaps? Am I asking for trouble for not just buying the normal gm sensor? If I get the gm sensor, I will have to weld a bung onto something, and I can't weld.

You could put just a temperature sensor there. Occasionally these may have heat soak issues, but you could always move it if you find you have this problem.

I thought about that, but the hole is not the right shape and the intake is plastic, so I can't modify it easily.

At least heat soak shouldn't be a problem then. Cast aluminum manifolds can sometimes transfer more heat to the sensor than to the air. If you can't find a calibration curve for the MAP part, you could always just use the temperature portion.
